Excursion Friday – Gallery Of Nature In New York City

– Posted in: Excursion Friday

When you live in a place, it’s easy to take the sites and activities for granted. As native New Yorkers, it’s especially easy because the work pace of this city is so fast. However, having untethered from office work, we finally have the time and mental bandwidth to visit the places on our excursion wish list. We keep a running list of places we want to visit, so that when [...]

Excursion Friday Visit to New York Botanical Garden

– Posted in: Excursion Friday

New York City is finally seeing some nice weather, and we can resume our Excursion Fridays, where we visit the many magnificent nature sites the city has to offer. It is surprisingly easy to find nature in NYC but difficult to squeeze in the time when you’re tethered to an office job. Now that Scott has joined me in the virtual consulting world, we have the flexibility to take advantage [...]

Excursion Friday: Donald M Kendall Sculpture Gardens in Purchase NY

– Posted in: Excursion Friday

We had a few hours to kill on Sunday and the weather was finally starting to turn a little cooler. We've been pleasantly surprised at all of the great places we've found to visit within an hour of our apartment, and we were hoping to find another one. Google Maps searching turned up the Donald M Kendall Sculpture Gardens, which is in Purchase, New York, on the grounds of the PepsiCo world headquarters.

Excursion Friday – Lenoir Preserve

The Mansion at Lenoir Preserve

Lenoir Preserve is a small park, only 40 acres, but has lots to offer.  It wasn't at the top of our list of excursions (frankly it wasn't even on the list!), but we found it because we had a 1pm appointment in Yonkers and we were looking for something close by we could visit beforehand, and it's rectangular green space in Google Maps looked very inviting. We enjoyed the structures on the property such as the mansion and gazebo, as well as our sighting of several deer.
