When you live in a place, it’s easy to take the sites and activities for granted.

As native New Yorkers, it’s especially easy because the work pace of this city is so fast. However, having untethered from office work, we finally have the time and mental bandwidth to visit the places on our excursion wish list.

We keep a running list of places we want to visit, so that when we see or hear of something, we can add it to the list and not forget about it.

We also keep a list of free admission days because many museums and cultural sites have special offers. If you’re not mindful of discounts, ticket prices can quickly add up – and expense reduction is a key strategy for reaching FIRE!

The late May, early June weather has been beautifully cooperative in New York City, so we focused on getting outside and around nature. We took several excursions worth highlighting:

  1. Untermyer Gardens
  2. Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden at New York Botanical Garden
  3. Governor’s Island
  4. Staten Island Ferry
  5. Old Croton Aqueduct And Ossining Weir
