Untermyer Gardens is one of the excursions we took near our home in New York City in late May / early June 2019.

We visited Untermyer Gardens for the first time a couple of years ago. It is right next to Lenoir Preserve, which we wrote about at the time, so we often visit these two places together.

Located in Yonkers, just a short drive from Riverdale, you are transported to Persia! The design of the walled garden is fascinating, Indo-Persian in concept, with Greek elements, including the four rivers and two great trees from the biblical descriptions of Eden.

Twice each day, at 10:30 and 3:30, classical music is piped into the Walled Gardens, making it an even more idyllic setting.

Don’t miss the Temple of Love when you visit! It is a gazebo overlooking the Hudson River.
